@Loki said in Suppressing the negative?: Both assumptions are entirely reasonable. Why would anybody at this point also not think that likes/dislikes on social media are like robo calls? They are and they aren't. Everyone on social media has to deal with some percentage of (1) fake likes, follows, whatever, from bots, and (2) lost likes, follows, whatever, from algorithm suppression. But as you gain popularity, (1) increases while (2) decreases. That's especially true on YouTube, where the platform suppresses the hell out of your channel for about 6 months to a year when you just start out. They do that because they don't want to publicize a channel that's not going to last. They want to see first that you're a consistent uploader, then they let you be more found by others. After that comes more exposure in the recommended column.

I agree with everybody else. It's difficult to imagine any circumstance where a front-loaded 10k/year could replace a pension. If one is only comparing financial stuff.

@bachophile said in "Hey Siri, play the Well-Tempered Clavier on Apple Music": Romantic? Goddamn foot was nailed to the pedal. Yeah, that was pretty obvious in the recording as well. But, as I said, I really liked the phrasing in those two examples.

@Klaus said in Tuner Cleaner?: Listening to loud music on high end equipment is definitely a thing of the past. Not at Kluurs' house. Believe me....

No, but they can also continue to work at other jobs. To determine whether this is good or bad you would have to see the individual offererings.

Telling jon not to gaslight people is like telling Ax not to soar high above the Serengeti with a golden trophy strapped to his back, hunting for plump, juicy bunnies. Some people are just born to do certain things.

@Axtremus said in Ceding the Working Class: @Larry said in Ceding the Working Class: Link to video Thank you for the YouTube link. I am glad to see this. Here I will also address @George-K. This is good. The publication of these videos, contrary to @George-K's assertion, shows that the Democrats are not afraid to reflect and publish different opinions. @Larry, let me know if you think there are Republicans who, when they say the Pledge of Allegiance, will omit the "under God" part. And @George-K, let me know if you think the Republicans will publish videos of committee meetings where in some Republicans say the Pledge of Allegiance without the "under God" part. Frankly I am quite glad that there is a major political party in the USA that still has a tent big enough to include atheists, pantheists, polytheists, etc. As the technology people say sometimes, this is a feature, not a bug. Turned on a dime and gave four cents change. Impressive!

@Axtremus said in Should we take another hard look?: @Jolly said in Should we take another hard look?: At an old drug? https://thefederalist.com/2020/08/20/why-is-the-media-suppressing-information-about-hydroxychloroquines-effectiveness-against-covid/ Why give "the media" power over what drugs to promote, what drugs to bury? For that matter, why give any politician power over what drugs to promote, what drugs to bury? Let the medical establishment do their thing and you pay attention to the medical establishment. The CDC, the FDA, the WHO, the revered academic journals ... pay attention to those. Yeah, from time to time, they make mistakes. But they are still a lot than "the media", a lot better than just about any politician. Lad, if you don't think politics enter into the world of Big Pharma, you are naive.

It may be a musical interpretation of an eagle, majestically soaring high over the Serengeti, bunny clutched in its talons, golden Point of the Day trophy strapped to its back.
